What is the Danley Sound Labs Synergy Horn?
The synergy horn is a series of cabinet designs created by world renowned speaker designer Tom Danley. It is a technology which allows Danley Sound Labs to put multiple drivers of different bandwidths into a single horn, and make them behave as a single full range loudspeaker. This creates a phase coherent, incredibly efficient, musical, clean and powerful wavefront that is capable of filling entire concert halls and stadiums.
Here’s why you should care
This series of designs is revolutionary for a number of reasons. First, it just sounds better than ANY other speaker design capable of reaching large audiences, even the finest line array. We have all heard terrific sounding line arrays and to be certain, line arrays revolutionized the pro audio business and the general concert going experience. However, they suffer from inefficiencies that are inherent to hanging many speakers in the same space, which unavoidably creates negative audio artifacts. Tremendous amounts of science, technology, equipment etc have been developed, and remain necessary for any line array to function as intended. Despite the complicated “solutions” to these problems, the inherent physics of audio waves in a room cannot be avoided and even the finest line arrays in the world have problems of lobing, smear, phase cancellations and other unpleasant results, that cannot be entirely contravend. Enter the Danley synergy horn.
Powerful Audio
By combining many drivers of different sizes into a single enclosure and some extremely clever cabinet and crossover design, Danley produces phase coherent, incredibly powerful audio from a single source. The pattern of the cabinet is determined from the factory and the pattern control is precise to an unprecedented level. Because it isn’t competing with other speakers to cover a large area, it wastes no energy correcting problems or fighting with other cabinets. It simply produces perfect high fidelity audio at concert volumes with clarity, power, and musical sweetness that has never before been available.
Due to its incredible efficiency, Danley speakers achieve all this with a reduction in rigging, amplification and power, labor, interruption of sightlines, and other complications. The line array companies are hanging 12-16 cabinets per side that weigh 100-200 lbs each. They have to power all those boxes. We hang two cabinets and outperform them with one third the power or less.
